Billy Porter, who was nominated for Best Actor for his role in Pose wore a custom haute couture ensemble by Randi Rahm to the Golden Globes on Sunday, Jan. 6th, 2019. Randi, who has a long - established history of creating exquisitely tailored pieces, welcomed the opportunity to dress Billy in something that truly reflected his unique personality and talents.
Billy’s charisma was the main source of inspiration for this look. Randi designed a fully tailored sartorial suit adorned with cascading hand embroidery and a vivid colored lining. The shirt is made from the finest French stretch sheer tulle and is also fully embellished with extravagant embroidery and beading. It is trimmed with silk collar and cuffs for an added sophisticated detail. The "pièce de résistance,” a full length embroidered cape, lined in in hot pink completed the four piece ensemble. The entire look required more than six months to create and is one of the most complex pieces that Randi has ever conceived.
Dressing Billy only reemphasizes Randi’s philosophy and mission statement as a designer. Randi truly believes that fashion should make the individual feel good.
